30th June 2018 – Where is the bear… and who is Douglas?

Stiffy Bear is back with more stories about his cruise up the Queensland Coast…

Next port – Port Douglas! It was a beautiful day… first thing most of us did was go straight to the beach. There was a special area you had to swim in to make sure you didn’t get stung by any jellyfish. The man at the beach told me they can really hurt.

The beach was really wide and it didn’t have waves like we are used to at Coolangatta. It was really hot though, so everyone went for a swim to cool off.

The next thing we did was go on a steam train ride. Here is a picture of the man turning the train around so it can go the other way. They have to do this at each end. This is the Ballyhooley Steam Railway. It goes from the Marina to St Crispin’s Station.

My daddy looks like he is going to drive! I hope he has a train driving licence…

It sure is a pretty place at the other end.

The lady told us that there is a little crocodile in the lake. He got washed in during the floods and his name is “Snappy”

Anyway, we had a lovely time… and here comes our train to take us back to the Marina.

We were on our way back to the ship, when suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a little Teddy.

His name is Douglas and he is my new friend. He is a world traveller and so he decided to come with us back to the ship.

23rd June 2018 – Ted Cruise???

Stiffy Bear… or Ted Cruise as he now calls himself, is back with more stories about his cruise up the Queensland Coast.

Next port – Cairns! It was Anzac Day when we pulled into port so there were some different things going on.

See how high up we are on the ship. It is a long way down to the water. We just have to walk off the ship here, so we won’t have to catch the little boats. I think Stiffy Bear was a little disappointed about that!

The chefs also made a special cake to celebrate Anzac Day and made Anzac Biscuits for everyone to enjoy. Unfortunately, a couple of little furry paws have removed some icing and made New Zealand disappear from the cake. Naughty Bears!

The weather was perfect again and so we went for a walk into town. It was great to see such a turn out for the Anzac Day service.

It sure is a pretty town, and the lagoon was a special favourite of the bears. It was a public holiday, so there were plenty of children about to make a fuss of the bears. They were a real hit!

16th June 2018 – Teddy bears running around at Airlie Beach?

Finally, Stiffy Bear arrived in Airlie Beach.

The Sea Princess is definitely a great way to get there. We all loved the boat trip from our ship to the harbour. Here is Stiffy Bear’s mummy enjoying the ride with one of the dancers from the shows.

There are lots of things to do here, but Stiffy Bear and Wee Bear just wanted to play at the lagoon. This is a great big area where a lot of families gather to enjoy themselves. They  just played around the baby pool, but there is a great big pool for bigger kids and grown ups.

The weather was perfect and the little bears made lots of friends… even the lifeguard wanted to get in on the photos! Stiffy Bear’s daddy gave the man a copy of my book to take home to his kids.

Next time we visit we will have to make a trip to some of the islands. That’s the thing about cruises, you get to see enough to know whether you want to go back. Airlie Beach is definitely a place to go back to.

2nd June 2018 – How is Mr Stiffmeister’s cruise going?

Continuing on from last week, Stiffy Bear has been on a Princess Cruise up the Queensland Coast.

Last week he told you about his stop in Sydney. After Sydney the boat headed north for Airlie Beach. This is the port that leads to the Whitsunday Islands. Along the way we went right by Coolangatta (Stiffy Bear’s home). Here is a photo as we went by… the sun was just setting as we sailed by.

There was a big party that night and we all know that teddy bears love parties. Stiffy and Wee Bear decided it was a good night to go looking for him… and there he was, STANLEY the stowaway bear. Boy oh Boy! He looks like the captain!
